To provide an organic EL display which can prevent deterioration of display characteristics caused by permeation of vapor and can be manufactured with good yield even in a case that an organic EL display layer is formed using the applying method, in an organic EL display using a plastic film as a substrate.
A transparent and electrically conductive barrier layer 14, an adhesive layer 18, a protective layer 26, a transparent electrode 24 embedded in the protective layer 26, the organic EL layer 30, a metal electrode 32 and a seal layer 36 are formed in this order on the plastic film 11. The transparent and electrically conductive barrier layer 14 has barrier function of blocking the permeation of the vapor into the organic EL layer 30 and function of preventing charging of the plastic film 11, and the organic EL layer 30 is formed using the applying method.
