To provide a grease composition, relating a method for producing lubricating grease which is made dense with a soap using a dried base, for example, a base in the state of a lithium dispersion.

The invention provides a grease composition including a reaction product of a stable dispersion comprising a metal hydroxide with a number average particle size in the range of 20 nanometers to 2 micrometers, a surfactant with a HLB of less than 10, a mono- and/or poly- carboxylic acid, and an oil of lubricating viscosity. The method for producing the grease composition is also disclosed with benefits including a reduction in reaction time, amount of foam produced and environmental hazards. The invention relates to a method for producing lubricating grease which is made dense with a soap using a dried base, for example, a base in the state of a lithium dispersion. The grease can be produced under milder conditions by using a dry metal hydroxide emulsion technology for producing the lithium dispersion.
