PURPOSE: To obtain a stabilizer which has an excellent effect of stabilizing an organic substance against thermal or oxidative degradation or the like for a long time when added thereto during its production or molding by using a specified organic cyclic phosphorus compound as an effective component.
CONSTITUTION: This stabilizer comprises an organic cyclic phosphorus compound of the formula (wherein X and X' are each H, halogen, acyl, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl; (m) and (n) are each 1-4; and R is alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl). When added to an organic substance during its production or molding processing, this stabilizer shows an excellent persistent effect of stabilizing it against thermal or oxidative degradation during a prolonged storage or service as well as during its production or processing. It is used usually in an amount of about 0.01-5wt.% based on the objective substance (e.g. industrial chemicals, agricultural chemicals, elastomer, synthetic rubber, coating material or adhesive).
