Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration of a device with a simple driving device and to lengthen the driving life of the device by applying sine wave AC voltage to a part between an anode and a cathode to drive the device.
SOLUTION: An organic EL device is a current injection type device, and emits light by the recombination of a hole and an electron in a luminescent region when a charge is injected. When the organic EL device is continuously driven, the resistance of an organic film is increased and current hardly flows, and if driving condition is specified by voltage, current is decreased in continuous driving, drop in brightness is accelerated. Control of driving condition by current value is effective. As the method for it, a current value is detected, the current value detected is fed back to a peak voltage value of sine wave AC voltage applied to between an anode and a cathode. The peak voltage value can be manually controlled, but it is controlled with a driving circuit, for example, so that an integrated value or an average value of current is made constant.
