The organic EL device is composed of: a substrate with a displaying circuit formed thereon; and a layered product formed by laminating, on the substrate, a first insulation layer, a lower electrode, a second insulation layer, an organic compound layer and an upper electrode in that order. The device is characterized in that the first insulation layer or the second insulation layer is a layer formed of a copolymer resin; and the copolymer resin has (A) a (meta) acrylic ester unit having an alicyclic hydrocarbon (group) in a side chain, and (B) a (meta) acrylic ester unit represented by a (meta) acrylic ester unit having a substituent group represented by general formula (1) in a side chain. In this case, in the general formula (1), Ra is a single bond, bivalent substituent or substituent group; and Rb, Rc and Rd are each hydrogen or a straight chain type hydrocarbon group.
