The organic EL device includes an insulating substrate, an organic EL element arranged above the insulating substrate, an array substrate that has a first region where the organic EL element is arranged and a second region formed around the first region in the shape of a frame, a seal substrate having a flat part that is in contact with the top surface of the first region of the array substrate and a groove part that is depressed with respect to the flat part and formed in the shape of a frame that faces the second region of the array substrate, and a seal member that is arranged in the groove part of the seal substrate to paste the array substrate and the seal substrate together.
