To provide an organic EL display device which suppresses color misregistration in a low grayscale region while securing an expected light emitting life.
The display device 100 has a drive switching section 51 that switches between pulse drive and constant-current drive according to gray levels of display. The drive switching section performs pulse drive in a region having a gray level lower than a predetermined gray level, and performs constant-current drive in a middle high grayscale region having a gray level higher than the predetermined gray level. In the low grayscale region, a drive current whose amplitude of a pulse is higher than a reference current and which is greater than a value obtained by multiplying an inverse of a duty ratio of the pulse drive by the reference current is supplied to an organic EL layer. As this drive current overcomes an energy gap between a plurality of light emitting layers, expected white light can be obtained even in the low grayscale region. Further, in the middle high grayscale region, the constant-current drive is selected, load on the organic EL layer is reduced, thereby ensuring a light emitting life. Therefore, expected color in the low grayscale region and the expected light emitting life are satisfied.
