To make color display possible by forming a color filter on an anode in an organic EL display.
A cathode 13 is arranged in a stripe shape on a first transparent substrate 11, and a white light emitting body 14 is formed on the cathode 14 within a display region. An anode 15 is arranged on the light emitting body 14 so as to perpendicularly cross the cathode 13 and the light emitting body 14, and they are arranged in matrix. Color filters 17R, 17G, 17B are formed on the anode 15 by an electro-deposition process. A second transparent substrate 12 is faced and arranged on the substrate 11, and the substrates 11, 12 are bonded with a sealing material 16. In order to display an image on a display, DC voltage is applied across the anode 15 in the region to emit light and the cathode 13. Electrons are injected into the light emitting body 14 in the portion to which DC voltage is applied to produce an electric field, light is emitted, and an image is displayed on the substrate 12. Since filters 17R, 17G, 17B are formed on the anode 15, color display is made possible.
