Abstract:

To provide an organic EL element of long lifetime in which such element characteristics as emission luminance and emission efficiency can be sustained at a high level over a long term, and to provide an organic EL display.

A vinyl polymer having anthracene structure and a hole transporting compound having glass transition temperature of 70°C or above are added to an emission layer 20 interposed between a pair of electrodes 12 and 18 in an organic EL element 1. Consequently, mobility of both hole and electron is enhanced in the emission layer 20 and since good carrier balance state can be sustained such that they are recombined efficiently, such element characteristics as emission luminance and emission efficiency can be sustained at a high level over a long term.
