To provide an organic electroluminescence display element of low cost and a manufacturing method of the same capable of improving utilization efficiency of light by emitting polarized light and improving productivity.
The organic electroluminescent element includes an electrode, a luminescent layer, and a counter electrode provided on a substrate. The electrode on the substrate includes a surface which forms a periodical stripe shaped uneven part, and the luminescent layer contains at least polymer material, and has a polarization property. A molecule weight of the polymer material is more than 10,000. The electrode surface on the substrate has a stripe shaped periodical uneven part with a pitch of not more than 10 μm and an amplitude of not more than 1 μm. Thereby, the polarized light of a polarization degree of more than 0.3 is emitted. Furthermore, in the manufacturing method, the luminescent layer is formed by shearing in parallel with the stripe shaped electrode.
