Title:
ORGANIC ELECTROLUMINESCENT DISPLAY DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2004145069
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide an organic EL display device for which it is not necessary to drive the organic EL elements with a large current in order to shorten a charging time and for which it is possible to use the efficient organic EL elements by providing a means for reducing the charging time which is related to wiring capacitance, etc. at the time of driving an organic EL element with a current, that is for resolving the problem concerned with the element luminescence time for application of the driving current to the organic EL element.

The organic EL display device is provided with organic EL elements each of which is driven by a current and arranged in matrix shape. The threshold time from the starting of the application of a driving current to the light emission with prescribed luminance of the organic EL elements is provided. The display device has a means (21) in which control by picture data, whose light emission with the prescribed luminance are enabled in the time below the threshold, can be changed over to the current control but the control by picture data which needs the time equal to or longer than the threshold can be changed over to a pulse width modulation control.
