To provide an organic electroluminescent element having a patterning the adherence of metal to which is suppressed with accuracy, a manufacturing method for the same, and a display and an electronic apparatus using the same.SOLUTION: Provided is an organic electroluminescent element comprising a lower electrode, a charge transportable layer, an upper electrode on the charge transportable layer, and a patterning layer on the charge transportable layer, the upper electrode being patterned by the patterning layer. In the upper electrode direction from the lower electrode, an electrode region where the upper electrode exists has the charge transportable layer and the upper electrode laminated in the order stated, and in the upper electrode direction from the lower electrode, a non-electrode region where the upper electrode does not exist has the charge transportable layer and the patterning layer laminated in the order stated.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
