This is an organic electroluminescent element having at least one organic layer including a light-emitting layer between a pair of electrodes, a compound is contained in the organic layer, and the compound has the main chain part and the side chain part, and carbon atom contained in the main chain part is bonded to the atomic group of the side chain part and constitutes a ring.
