Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject new compound capable of imparting good flame retardancy to an organic polymeric compound little in the generation of an injurious gas on combustion, and useful as a flame retardant or a stabilizer by adding a small amount of the compound to the organic polymeric compound.
CONSTITUTION: An organic phosphorous compound of formula I [X1-X3 are each H, a halogen, nitro, alkyl, etc.; R is a lower alkylene or an alkylidene (substituted with an alkyl, a cycloalkyl, etc.,); X is O atom or S atom; (m) is 0, 1]. For example, a compound of formula II. The compound of formula I is obtained by subjecting a cyclic organic phosphorous compound of formula III and an organic phosphite compound of the formula: (A-O)3P [A is a (substituted)alkyl, an aryl] to an ester exchange reaction.
