To provide an organic pigment composition that exhibits a high contrast when formed into a color filter, inhibits or prevents surface roughness and attains good display performance even after subjected to processes, such as development, post-bake, UV cleaning, during the molding process of the color filter and is excellent in dispersion stability with the lapse of time.
The organic pigment composition includes an organic pigment fine particle and a compound having a specific acid group. The organic pigment fine particle is an organic pigment fine particle which is obtained by: mixing an organic pigment prepared by dissolving an organic pigment in a good solvent and a solvent compatible with the good solvent and acting as a poor solvent for the organic pigment; and precipitating the resultant solution.
