Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an organic semiconductor stable in air and excellent in heat resistance, film smoothness, variety of developed colors, etc., by doping a specified polymer obtained by introducing a heterocyclic group other than a thiophene group into the molecular chain of a thiophene polymer with an anion.

CONSTITUTION: The purpose organic semiconductor is prepared by doping a polymer consisting of repeating units of formula I (wherein R is formula II, III or IV) with an anion (e.g., tetrafluoroborate ion or perchlorate ion). Said polymer is produced by electrolytically polymerizing a compound of formula V, VI or VII. Although the polymer obtained by the electrolytic polymerization has been doped with the anion of the supporting electrolyte used, the dopant can be removed by reversing the polarity in the electrolytic polymerization to give a polymer in a neutral state. The obtained polymer can be suitably used as an electrode material, a solar battery material or the like.
