PURPOSE: To obtain an organic solar cell in which a large-area thin-film layer can be manufactured at low costs and whose photoelectric conversion efficiency is higher as compared with that in conventional cases by a method wherein an organic photoconductive layer contains a gallium phthalocyanine pigment indicated by a specific formula.
CONSTITUTION: In an organic solar cell, an organic photoconductive layer is sandwiched between two electrodes so as to from a sandwich structure. The organic photoconductive layer contains a gallium phthalocyanine pigment indicated by the formula. In 14 the formula, X represents Cl, OH and OCH3, Y1 to Y4 represent halogen atoms, and (k) to (n) represent an integer of 0 to 4. For example, a carboxyl modified vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer as a crystal resin and butyl acetate as a solvent are added to, and dispersed in, a chlorogallium phthalocyanine crystal, and a slurrylike solution is prepared. The solution is dipped, coated and dried on a glass substrate on which an ITO electrode has been formed, a photoconductive layer is formed, in succession, an aluminum back electrode is formed by a vacuum evaporation method, and the organic solar cell is manufactured.
