Title:
ORGANIC-SOLVENT-BASE BINDER COMPOSITION, ELECTRODE, AND CELL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3755544
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a binder capable of producing a cell which has a large initial capacity and in which a carbonaceous active substance is fixed in a large amt. to an electrode and hardly peels off the electrode even when the cell is repeatedly charged and discharged.
SOLUTION: A cell is produced by using an electrode having an active substance layer formed by dispersing an active substance in an org. -solvent-base binder compsn., applying the compsn. to an electrode substrate, and drying it. The binder compsn. comprises a polar org. solvent (e.g. N-methylpyrrolidone) and latex particles formed by the copolymn. of 25-60wt.% arom. vinyl monomer having no atom other than carbon and hydrogen atoms (e.g. styrene), 15-50wt.% conjugated diene monomer having no atom other than carbon and hydrogen atoms (e.g. butadiene), 0-40wt.% ethylenically unsatd. carboxylic ester (e.g. methyl methacrylate), and 0-40wt.% unsatd. carboxylic acid (e.g. itaconic acid), the sum of the carboxylic ester and the carboxylic acid being 15-40wt.%.
