Title:
ORGANIC THIN FILM ELECTROLUMINESCENT ELEMENT AND MANUFACTURE THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2760347
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize an element characteristic, and improve cross talk by forming a lower side metallic electrode to contact an organic thin film out of a material having a small work function, and forming an outer peripheral part to surround it out of a material having a large work function.
SOLUTION: A transparent electrode 2 by transparent metal is formed on a main surface of a glass substrate 1, and an organic thin film 3 composed of an electron hole transport layer, a light emitting layer and an electron transport layer is formed in its upper part. For example, local metal 4 using a material having a small work function such as lithium or aluminium to which lithium is added, is formed in an upper part of the organic thin film 3, and a metallic electrode 5 larger in size than the local electrode 4 is superposed on it. Since the metallic electrode 5 is formed of, for example, a metallic material larger having a larger work function such as aluminium than the local electrode 4, a light emitting element characteristic is stabilized, and cross talk between elements can be remedied.
