Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an organometallic complex that adsorbs and releases a relatively large amount of hydrogen within a temperature range of around room temperature.SOLUTION: The organometallic complex, [Cu(pyridine-3, 5-dicarboxylate)], is formed by successively connecting a plurality of recurring units, Cu(pyridine-3, 5-dicarboxylate). The unit cell of the organometallic complex has a crystal system belonging to the orthorhombic system. In the planar structure in the organometallic complex, there exist a plurality of cavities (spaces) where atoms are not densely packed. The cavity has a pore shape with an opening diameter and an inner diameter of several angstrom each, and a Cu atom, an O atom and an N atom are exposed on the inner surface thereof. This cavity functions as a hydrogen-adsorbing site.
