Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enhance load capacity and the rigidity of a bearing and thereby prevent vibrations by forming an air supply groove in the bearing surface in the form of H, and thereby lessening the saddle part of the distribution of pressure applied to the shaft. CONSTITUTION:Eight H-shaped air supply grooves 14 composed of an axial element and a circumferential element each are grooved approx. at a constant spacing in the circumferential direction in the bearing surface which is situated in the inner surface of the bearing member 11 and which is to bear a shaft 16 with a certain proper gap against the shaft 16, and an air supply hole 14 and an orifice 13 in communication with each other are provided around in the middle of said axial groove. When air is supplied from the air supply hole 12, compressed gas will flow into the air supply grooves 14 through an orifice 13, its pressure and rate of flow being controlled, and jet out to the gap between the shaft 16 and bearing surface 15 to bear the shaft 16 and then exhausted. As the air supply grooves have the form of H, the saddle parts to be generated by ununiformity in the axial and circumferential distributions of the supplied air can be lessened.
