PURPOSE: To detect the jam surely, by carrying reversely an original after a prescribed time is elapsed when the end part of the original is detected by a means, which detects the original passing the tip part of a guide member, and discriminating the jam if the end part of the original is detected in this case.
CONSTITUTION: The tip part of an original is detected by an original detecting means 15 after the elapse of a time T3 from the driving for normal rotation of a carrying belt 30, and each solenoid of a paper feeding part is turned off after the elapse of a certain time from the detection of the end part of the original in a paper feed sensor 5, and the rotation of an auxiliary roller 8 is stopped, and the carrying belt 30 is stopped after the elapse of a time T4, and the end part of the original is stopped on an original glass 20. After the elapse of a time T5, the carrying belt 30 is rotated reversely for a time T6, and the reversely transferred original is stopped when the end part is brought into contact with a stopper part 11. Turn-on or off of the original detecting means 15 is discriminated after the elapse of a time T6; and if the end part of the original rides on the tip of a guide member 10, the jam is discriminated.
