PURPOSE: To permit a variety of original documents to be transported according to the necessity by forming the first and second original document discharge ports.
CONSTITUTION: An original document having a relatively long length in the transport direction is transported on an original document placing board means 18 through the first branched transport passage 78 and the first original document discharge port 96 of an original document discharge passage 74. When this original document is transported again into an original document transport passage 56 through an original document transport-in passage 58, the original document is advanced to a prescribed position on the original document placing board means 18 by the first original document transport means 108. An original document having a relatively short length in the transport direction is allowed to pass through the second branched transport passage 80 and the second original document discharge passage 100 of the original document transport passage 74, and transported onto the original document placing board means 18. When this original document is transported again into the original document transport passage 56 through the original document transport-in passage 58, the original document is advanced up to a necessary position on the original document placing board means 18 by the second original document transport means 110. Accordingly, the original document having a variety of dimensions can be transported according to the necessity, obviating the necessity of the complicated operation by an operator.
