PURPOSE: To position an original surely by sticking an elastic coating member to the part, which is brought into contact with an original platen glass, of an original position control plate to prevent the original from being inserted between the original platen glass and the original position control plate.

CONSTITUTION: An elastic coating member 5 consisting of silicone rubber or the like is stuck preliminarily to an upper face A and an end face B of an original position control plate 3. Since the original position control plate 3 is fixed to a copying machine body 6 by a screw 7, the elastic coating member 5 is pressed to the surface of an original platen glass 1 by the original position control plate 3 and is compressed. Therefore, the close contacting state between the original position control plate 3 and the original platen glass 1 is kept by the elastic coating member 5 even if the original position control plate 3 is bent in such degree that the original can be inserted between them. An original 2 is brought into contact with the surface of the elastic coating member 5 in the end part of the original position control plate 3 and is positioned. Consequently, the original is not inserted between the original platen glass and the original position control plate, and the original is positioned surely.
