PURPOSE: To scan the whole surface of an original accurately by contacting the whole surface of a book original to a scanning surface closely by providing the scanning surface forming two crossing recessed curved surfaces in a chevron.

CONSTITUTION: A scanning surface 1 is formed in chevron crossing the two recessed curved surfaces, and put it on a scanning control part 2. And the scanning control part 2 stores electronic parts such as a CCD sensor and optical parts. By putting an opened book original 3 on the chevron scanning surface 1, a binding part 4 of the book original 3 contacts to a peak 5 of the scanning surface 1. Thereby, the whole surface of the book original 3 contacts to the scanning surface 1. Thus, it is possible to scan accurately by closely contacting the whole surface of the book original to the scanning surface.
