Abstract:

To obtain a novel ortho-substituted benzoylguanidine which is useful for prevention and treatment of infarction and as an antiarrhythmic agent having a heart-protecting component for treatment of stenocardia because it shows no inconvenient salt excretion in addition to good antiarrhythmic properties.

This benzoylguanidine is represented by formula I {one of R(2) and R(3) is H and the other is Cl, Br, I, a 1-8C alkyl, a 3-8C cycloalkyl, formula: OR(5) [R(5) is a 1-8C alkyl, a group of the formulaes CdH2d-C3-8 cycloalkyl ((d)is 0-2)] or its salt, typically 2-chloro-4methoxy-5- trifluoromethylbenzoylguanidine hydrochloride. The compound of formula I is obtained by reaction of a compound of formula II (L is an eliminable group when undergoing nucleophilic substitution) with guanidine.
