Abstract:
PURPOSE:To considerably enhance the quantity of picture capable of being recorded on a recording medium and to obtain the effect for considerably reducing a data transmission path and shortening the transmission time by dividing plural adjacent conversion data corresponding to a space frequency above a prescribed value of the arranged conversion data, obtaining the average value of the conversion data and representing the plural conversion data of said groups by one average value to encode. CONSTITUTION:The conversion data (y) arranged in the order of the sequence has the correlation to some degree between adjacent ones, so that the average value has nearly difference from the respective conversion data y in the group G. An encoding circuit 12 previously stores the positions of the respective groups G1,G2... formed in an area and obtains the average values every stored group G1,G2.... The encoding circuit 12 takes the correspondence to the respective groups G1,G2... and encodes. A comparatively short code length is applied to the central value (average value) of the part near to a circular arc R1 to compress picture data.
