To provide an orthopedic implant, which can be effectively fixed in a natural bone of a patient, and in which damage related to subsequent correcting operation can be alleviated or eliminated.
The orthopedic implant is for replacing the surface of the bone by a joint arthroplasty or the like, and it includes a bone contact surface to be engaged with an end part of the bone that is prepared. The bone contact surface includes porous coating which promotes bone ingrowth. A bioresorbable post is extended from the bone contact surface to be engaged within a cavity or hole prepared in the bone. The bioresorbable material of the post is selected in such a way that the post is not substantially resorbed in the existing bone before substantial bone ingrowth is achieved in the porous coating.
