PURPOSE: To facilitate the manufacture of an oscillator operating in a stabilized oscillation mode and to facilitate the sticking of of a piezoelectric element.
CONSTITUTION: An oscillator 1 being supported in a casing by means of supporting pins is formed into a column having such cross-section as a right square 1a is beveled by a circle 1b having radius longer than the inner central circle 5 of the right square 1a but shorter than the outer central circle 6 thereof. Since strict angular and dimensional accuracies are riot required at the time of machining the oscillator 1, the machining is facilitated and the oscillation mode is stabilized. Furthermore, such cross-section facilitates sticking of a piezoelectric element (piezoelectric transducer for driving or detection) to the oscillator 1.
