Abstract:
To provide an osteogenic protein and an osteogenic implement each of which can induce a perfect cascade of cartilaginous bone formation, including angioplasty, mineralization, and bone marrow differentiation, when transplanted to a mammalian body.
A method for producing an active osteogenic protein is provided. Therein, the osteogenic protein contains a pair of polypeptide chains bound in an oxidized state. A pair of the polypeptide chains form a dimer having a structure capable of inducing the cartilaginous bone formation. At least one of the pair of the polypeptide chains contains a specific polypeptide having ≥114 amino acids.
