Abstract:
To provide an outboard engine that uses a lithium-ion capacitor as a power source for starting an engine and can suppress overdischarge therefrom, and to provide an engine start system and a ship propulsion machine.SOLUTION: An engine start system for an outboard engine includes: a lithium-ion capacitor 65; a starter motor 61 operating by being supplied with power from the lithium-ion capacitor and cranking the engine; a starter relay 67 interposed to a start-up feeder cable 66 between the lithium-ion capacitor and the starter motor; a start switch 11 for energizing a coil 68 of the starter relay from the lithium-ion capacitor to make the starter relay electrically conductive; and a charging control unit 76 including a switch element 78 for connecting the lithium-ion capacitor to an AC generator 62 while the engine operates to charge the lithium-ion capacitor and, when the engine stops the operation thereof, detaching the lithium-ion capacitor from the AC generator 62.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3A
