Abstract:
To reduce the amount of intrusion to a hull side at tilt-up in an outboard engine.SOLUTION: An outboard engine includes a tilt shaft, an engine assembly, and a cowl. The tilt shaft composes a tilt axial line in the horizontal direction in a tilt action of the outboard engine. In the engine assembly, at least a portion thereof is positioned above a position along the perpendicular direction of the tilt axial line in the tilt down state of the outboard engine. The cowl stores at least a portion of the engine assembly. The tilt shaft includes a first shaft and a second shaft lined up coaxially while keeping apart from each other. A portion of the cowl is arranged in between the first shaft and the second shaft.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
