Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outboard engine capable of restraining the increase of size in the longitudinal direction caused by the engine layout.SOLUTION: This outboard engine 100 comprises: an engine 1 including a cylinder 11 in which a piston 12 reciprocates and a crankshaft 14 arranged so as to extend in the substantially horizontal direction substantially orthogonal to the thrust direction; a balance shaft 15 arranged in the intersecting direction with the extending direction of the cylinder 11 with respect to the crankshaft 14 and downward, and arranged so as to extend in the direction substantially parallel to the extending direction of the crankshaft 14; a first gear 16 installed on the balance shaft 15; a second gear 21 to which the drive of the first gear 16 is transmitted after its speed reduction; a drive shaft 2 connected to the second gear 21 and arranged so as to extend in the vertical direction; and a propeller 5 rotated by transmitting the drive of the drive shaft 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
