Title:
OUTBOARD ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3211358
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To simplify the internal structure of an outboard engine by integrally forming an oil pan on an undercover forming part of an upper unit in which an engine is received, and forming respective openings of the oil pan, exhaust channel, and cooling-water channel in an aligning undercover face with the engine.
CONSTITUTION: An outboard engine has an upper unit 3 in which an engine 2 is accommodated. A drive shaft housing 4 is disposed on a lower end edge of an undercover 3A having an engine loading face for loading the upper unit 3 thereon. In this case, the undercover 3A is integrally formed with an oil pan 8 along the extending direction of a housing 4, which oil pan 8 is made open at its top end so as to have an engine 2 underside loaded thereon. Respective openings of an ascending channel forming a cooling water passage, a return channel, and an exhaust channel are located in corresponding relation to aligning undercover face 15 positions with the engine 2. Those openings are formed correspondingly to respective openings of an ascending channel, a return channel, and an exhaust channel which are formed on the underside of the engine 2.
