Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve workability of assembly of a shift device of an outboard motor.SOLUTION: An outboard motor 1 includes a lower unit rotatably supporting a propeller shaft 23 on which a propeller is mounted, and a shift device 4 switching a shift position. The lower unit is provided with a shift device housing chamber 106 whose upper side opens, and also provided with a lid member 71 covering the upper side of the shift device housing chamber 106. The shift device 4 includes a dog clutch 45 switching the shift position by reciprocating in a direction parallel to a drive shaft 17, a shift fork member 61 reciprocating the dog clutch 45 in a direction parallel to the drive shaft 17, and an actuator 5 reciprocating the shift fork member 61 in a direction parallel to the drive shaft 17.
