Abstract:
To supply a proper amount of a coolant to an engine to cool the engine in an outboard motor.SOLUTION: An outboard motor includes an upper case, a lower case, a transfer mechanism, a clutch, a coolant passage, a first pump, and a second pump. The upper case is disposed below an engine. The lower case is disposed below the upper case. The transfer mechanism transmits a driving force of the engine. The clutch is connected to the transfer mechanism. The coolant passage is connected to the engine. The coolant passage is disposed within the upper case and the lower case. The first pump is connected to the transfer mechanism via the clutch. The first pump is driven by the driving force of the engine to send a coolant to the engine through the coolant passage. The second pump is connected to the transfer mechanism. The second pump is driven by the driving force of the engine to send the coolant to the engine through the coolant passage.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
