Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outboard motor which is easily tilted up and hardly adversely affected by water, by providing an engine which has a low center of gravity and hardly permits water to enter a starter motor.
SOLUTION: The body case of this outboard motor is supported by a connection member oscillated around a tilting shaft and the outboard motor is equipped with an engine on an upper portion of the body case of the outboard motor with a crankshaft vertically directed. In the above outboard motor, a flywheel 58 is arranged on a lower end projected from an engine block 20 of the crankshaft 9. A ring gear 65 is integrated with an outer peripheral part of the flywheel 58. In addition, a starter motor 48 is arranged on an upper side of the ring gear 65, and the motor 48 has an output shaft 49 projected downward, and a driving gear 59 arranged on the output shaft 49 and to be meshed with the ring gear 65.
