PURPOSE: To facilitate the maintenance and reduce the noise relating to the outdoor unit with an electric box above a machine chamber of an air conditioner and keep out heat, etc., so as to make the controller maintain reliability by placing a soundproof board at the underside of the electric box.
CONSTITUTION: In the machine chamber 3 there are provided in its lower part a lower soundproof board 9 between a bottom plate 8 and the machine chamber 3, at the underside of an electric box 4 a flat plate 13 fixed to the underside, and at the two lateral sides of the flat plate 13 a guide 15 consisting of a pair of guide plates 14, 14 each of which has the shape of letter I, in section and guides and holds an upper soundproof board 16. Into the pair of guide plates 14, 14 of the guide 15 a flat board-shaped upper soundproof board 16 is inserted and held therein as a means of reducing the noise from the upper part of the machine chamber 3. This constitution makes the position of attachment of the upper soundproof board 16 always constant and admits of no gap against a side soundproof board 7 which otherwise may arise from an error in putting parts together or the like, so that a reduction in noise can be achieved on the hand and it becomes easy to set the upper soundproof board 16 in the assembling on the other hand.
