This outdoor unit is provided with a compressor, a heat exchanger and a blower, and connected to a use side unit to constitute a refrigerator. The outdoor unit includes: a person sensor for sensing the presence/absence of a person within a predetermined range where the wind from the blower reaches; and a control device adapted to lower the quantity of air blown of the blower and reducing the capacity of the compressor when the person sensor senses a person. There is no fear of blowing air offensive to a person at a temperature different from the outside air temperature so as to hardly give a feeling of discomfort to the approaching person. Furthermore, since the capacity of the compressor is reduced to decrease noise from the compressor, so that a feeling of discomfort due to noise given to the approaching person is hardly caused.
