To provide an outer peripheral drive type scroll compressor of high reliability by reducing the rotational fluctuation of a drive mechanism.
Inertial mass 6, 11 larger than a turning scroll member 3 are added to one ends of two drive shafts 4, 5 for driving the turning scroll member 3 of this outer peripheral drive type scroll compressor (refer to Figure 1). Inductive force in the rotating direction is thereby increased to resist the fluctuation of load torque caused by gas compression and to secure the constant speed rotation of the drive shafts and the constant speed turning performance of the turning scroll, thereby reducing the rotational fluctuation and rotational vibration of the compressor. A forced air cooling effect can be obtained in addition to inertia force by mounting fans 31, 32 to the other ends of the drive shafts 4, 5 (refer to Figure 4).
