In a control voltage value setting part 67, a control voltage value for controlling a generation voltage is set at every acceleration and every normal drive as a function of the number of revolutions of an engine. The acceleration state of the engine is determined on the basis of the number of revolutions of the engine that is detected by an engine revolution number determination part 66 and an output of a throttle sensor 69, and the operation stage of the changeover control of a regulator target voltage V is determined. The target voltage V is changed over in accordance with the action stage. A lead/delay angle amount setting part 70 determines energization timing to each phase of a stator coil 35 so that a battery voltage Vb converges in the target voltage V. A driver 65 controls a rectifier 36 in accordance with the decided lead/delay angle amount and changes the energization timing. When the action mode in which the target voltage V is at a low side continues for a long time, the target voltage is returned to a high side.
