Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce the non-uniformity of the intensity of an optical beam by using a rotary prism.
CONSTITUTION: A raster scan device uses the rotary prism 18 for facet tracking. The rotary prism 18 has plural facets ad the respective facets are parallel to facing facets. The optical beam enters through one facet in the rotary prism 18 and it exits from the corresponding and parallel facet. The optical beam passing through the rotary prism 18 is deflected. Since the rotary prism 18 rotates, the optical beam also shifts. The rotary prism 18 shifts so that the optical beam is kept by the center part of the mirror facet 24 of a rotary polygon mirror 22.
