Title:
OVER-SHOULDER-SHAPED MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING MAGNET
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3706658
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a compactly designed superconductive MRI magnet for imaging a brain of a human being.
SOLUTION: The annular cylindrical vacuum enclosure 12 of a magnetic resonance magnet has a longitudinal axis 14, a first longitudinal end 16, a second longitudinal end 18, a first cavity 20 extending from the first longitudinal end to the second longitudinal end and having a larger diameter and a second cavity 22 extending from the second longitudinal end to the first cavity and having a smaller diameter. First and second superconductive coils are arranged in the vacuum enclosure, and the first coil 24a surrounds the first cavity in the almost circumferential direction thereof and the second coil 24b surrounds the second cavity in the almost circumferential direction thereof and the radial distance from the axis 14 to the innermost part 26 in the radius direction of the second coil is smaller than the radius of the first cavity. A gradient coil 32 is arranged in the second cavity.
