To provide an overhead conveyor relatively easily enabling operation for changing one conveyance distance between working process areas adjacent to each other when necessary, and moreover, enabling management relatively easily, and keeping down frequency of maintenance relatively low.
The overhead conveyor includes: a hanger device 2 suspended in a traveling rail 1; a conveyance force receiving member 3 protruded from the upper part thereof; a driving rail 4 juxtaposed in the vicinity of the traveling rail 1; a conveyance force transmitting rod 7 formed of a bar-like main member 5 supported in the driving rail 4 and a rack 6, and long in a rail longitudinal direction X; a driving means 9 reciprocating the conveyance force transmitting rod 7 in one conveyance distance S1 by driving a pinion gear 8 engaged with the rack 6; and an engaging/disengaging means 11 which is fastened at a prescribed place in the longitudinal direction of the bar-like main member 5, locks the conveyance force receiving member 3 during forward movement of the conveyance force transmitting rod 7 for conveying the hanger device 2 only by the one conveyance distance S1, and is detached and displaced during return movement of the conveyance force transmitting rod 7 for moving back the conveyance force transmitting rod 7.
