To provide an overload clutch device using a helical gear in a part and acting regardless of a rotation direction when a predetermined overload is generated.
This device is provided with a first rotating member 53 having the helical gear 53a, a second rotating member 54 rotatably mounted coaxially with the rotation axis of the first rotating member, engaging-disengaging contact parts 53e and 54e formed on both the rotating members so as to bring the first and second rotating members axially in contact with each other, an energizing means 53d for allowing the mutual engaging-disengaging contact parts to relatively bring the first rotating member in contact with the second rotating member along the rotation shaft direction, and a clutch mechanism for switching over a normal transmission state that the first and second rotating members integrally transmit forward or backward rotation to a non-transmission state that both the rotating members rotate as separate bodies and driving force is not transmitted when the overload acts on one of the first and second rotating members, and vice versa. For the clutch mechanism, the shape of each engaging-disengaging contact part is set depending on the rotation direction in order to set the overload of the rotation torque in turning into the non- transmission state.
