This composition a compound of the formula [R4 is (CR5R6-CR7 R8X1)n-CR9R10R11; (n) is 1-18; R1 to R3 and R5 to R11 are respectively H or a substantiating group; X, X1, Y and Z are each O, NH or S] and a suitable locally applicable shaping agent. As a compound of the formula, 3,6- dioxaheptanoic acid, etc., is exemplified and contained the composition in an amount of 0.1-95wt.% and adjusted pH to ≤7. This composition is useful for treating dried skin, ichthyosis, palm, abnormal corneum of a farmer, dandruff, Darier's disease cuticle fiber, a lentigo, purpura senilis, a pimple, psoriasis eczema, pruritus, wrinkle or dyspigmentation. This oxa.acid composition is comparatively mild to skin and very effective to normalize peeling action in an upper corneum having many metabolisms required for softening skin diseases such as the above.
