Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (X is O or methylene; R is 1W3C alkyl).

EXAMPLE: 3-(3, 3-Dimethyl-2, 3-dihydrobenzofuran-7-yl)-5-methoxy-1, 3, 4-oxadiazolin-2-one.

USE: An insecticidal and miticidal agent.

PROCESS: The compound of formula I can be prepared by heating the hydrazinocarboxylate derivative of formula II and phosgene in an organic solvent such as toluene at the refluxing temperature, and reducing the resultant compound of formula III in an organic solvent such as THF in the presence of a base e.g. a tertiary amine such as pyridine, an alkali metal hydroxide, ammonia, etc., at -20W+100°C.
