Title:
OXIDATION POLYMERIZATION OF PYRROLE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2000072861
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a method for producing a pyrrole polymer in which it is possible to oxidatively polymerize pyrrole (or its derivatives) in the presence of a small quantity of a catalyst and to obtain a polymer having high electric conductivity and good moldability.

When chemically and oxidatively polymerizing pyrrole (or its derivative) of the formula [R1 is H, an alkyl, an alkenyl, a (substituted)phenyl or a (substituted)aralkyl; R2 is H or COOR4 (R4 is H, an alkyl, a (substituted) phenyl or a (substituted)benzyl); R3 is H or an alkyl] in a solvent in the presence of an oxidizer-based catalyst such as FeCl3.O2 or FeCl3.O2.ClO4, in an amount of ≤0.5 molar ratio to the monomer, the method of this invention is to add Et2O.BF3 to increase the yield of the polymer.
