Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the chipping and cracking of a spinel-type ferrite, by adding an additive to the ferrite, thereby adjusting the width of the grain boundary within a specific range.

CONSTITUTION: A spinel-type ferrite such as Mn-Zn ferrite, Ni-Zn ferrite, etc., e.g. an Mn-Zn ferrite composed of 30mol% MnO, 15mol% Zn and 55mol% Fe2Cl5, is prepared beforehand. The ferrite is added with 0.02W0.1wt% CaO, 0.001W 0.1wt% V2O5, and 0.001W0.1wt% SiO2 to adjust the distance between a crystal grain and the adjacent crystal grain, i.e. the width of the grain boundary to 30W150. The ferrite obtained by this process can be cut and ground without causing the breakage of the grain, i.e. the chipping and cracking of the ferrite.
