To provide an oxide superconducting wire material in which problems due to thermal decomposition of a binder can be solved, and which can reduce AC loss, and its manufacturing method.
This oxide superconducting wire material 120 is equipped with a plurality of oxide superconductors 117. Moreover, this is equipped with a first cover layer 110 composed of silver or silver alloy which covers respective outer peripheries of the plurality of oxide superconductors 117. Moreover, this is equipped with an insulating layer 112 containing silver compound into which the plurality of oxide superconductors are embedded and which covers the outer peripheries of the first covering layer 110. Moreover, this is equipped with a second covering layer 114 composed of silver or silver alloy and which covers the outer peripheries of the insulating layer 112. Since the respective outer peripheries of the plurality of oxide superconductors can be separated by the insulating layer 112 surely, the AC loss can be reduced. Moreover, the insulating layer 112 contains the silver compound, and binder is not used.
